Kodak Easyshare C143 12 MP Digital Camera with 3xOptical Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Silver)

Product Review

So far so very good…. works far better than advertised. Images are crystal clear, using the exception of a couple of caused by camera shake (me sneezing).. A very excellent item, would extremely suggest it to buddies. Kodak has a winner here. I bought the “Blue Bundle” (get more for less $$) and very pleased with it so far. I noticed a couple of reviews complaining of short battery life. I had exactly the same problem, but located the fault was mine for not fully charging the batteries the first time. Purchased new batteries (identical brand and kind as what came with the camera), fully charged them, and presto, the battery drain rate was significantly improved. Approximately 4 to 5 times longer than the very first pair I managed to screw up. About 300 photos just before I had to give ‘em a fresh shot of juice (electricity). (More…)

Nikon Coolpix L19 8.0 Megapixel 3.6x Optical Zoom Digital Camera (Black)

Product Review

I’m not certain why the black version of this camera is half the cost of a silver 1, but this can be not a refurbished unit. It is fast to start up and take a picture, although lag time between shots is a number of seconds. There are many settings for taking multiples of a shot at 1 time, but that is distinct from pressing the button again right after taking a picture. The menu system is basic and intuitive, and offers all of the options required in a standard camera. The nicely sized viewing screen is matte… this helps minimize glare a whole lot and makes taking images outdoors easier than having a standard screen. It’s Sleep function works nicely, darkening the screen whilst leaving the lens extended…. although it takes some beats too numerous to “reawaken”. (Review More…)

Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS10 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Black)

Product Review

1 final note: should you read the numerous Amazon reviews, I believe you’ll find ALL waterproof, point & shoot cameras have some waterproof integrity issues. All the waterproof, point & shoot cameras I’ve seen (regardless of price) have a very similar design in terms of access to the memory card, battery, and USB/power/charging connectors. Bottom line, in the event you try to open the door on any of these cameras when the camera is wet in any way, you risk permananently damaging the camera. From my experience, you have to let the camera sit for a few hours before attempting to open any of the access doors. In the event you choose to not let the camera “air dry” and just dry the outside of the camera, water will remain underneath the edges of the doors. The moment you open the door water gets pulled into the interior of the camera (via a vacuum affect) no matter how careful you are drying the camera. (Read More…)
